Women Are a Driving Force in Nation's Shift from Gun Control to Gun Rights

Women Are a Driving Force in Nation's Shift from Gun Control to Gun Rights - Breitbart:
"Women have emerged as one of the fastest-growing demographics of new gun buyers and concealed carry permit holders in the country, and in the process, they have become a driving force in the shift in American attitudes from pro-gun control to pro-gun rights.
...Now, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that this is not only providing new markets for the gun industry and expanding the number of concealed carry permits issued to women, but also impacting Americans’ views on guns and gun rights.
In late 2012–immediately following the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School–there was greater support for gun control than for gun rights.
In fact, there had been a greater support for gun control over gun rights for more than 20 years.
And this held true through January 2013.
Then things began to shift.
...Interestingly, the shift in women’s attitude in favor of guns has taken place during years when groups like Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action have worked their hardest to get moms to vote against the Second Amendment."

I'm likin' this chick!----Carly Fiorina: Big government is crushing Americans

Carly Fiorina: Big government is crushing Americans

Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina told a packed audience that a huge, complex and sometimes corrupt government was "crushing the potential" of Americans.
"That is not hyperbole," she said. "That is fact."
When democracy becomes so big and powerful, and so costly and complex, Fiorina said, only the big, powerful, wealthy and well-connected can handle it.
"The small and the powerless get crushed," she said.
At the Delaware GOP convention in Wilmington on Saturday morning, Fiorina came out strong against Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, questioning why the former U.S. secretary of state has answered so few on-the-record questions.
...While on the campaign trail, Fiorina said she's often asked why she's so critical of Clinton.
"It has nothing to do with the fact that either one of us are women. It has to do with this fact: 82 percent of the American people now believe that we have a professional political class that is more focused on preserving its power and privilege than it is on doing the people's work," she said.
"Bill and Hillary Clinton are the personification of the professional political class," she said.

Interesting---America the Obese: Is There a Multibillion Dollar Conspiracy to Make Sure Americans Stay Overweight?

America the Obese: Is There a Multibillion Dollar Conspiracy to Make Sure Americans Stay Overweight? | The Daily Sheeple:
According to Gallup, America is now fatter than it has ever been before.
But how can this possibly be?
After all, Americans spend an astounding 60 billion dollars a year on weight loss programs and products.
After putting so much time, effort and energy into losing weight, shouldn’t we be some of the healthiest people on the entire planet?
Sadly, the truth is that obesity has become a national epidemic, and we are known around the globe for our huge size.
The term “fat Americans” has become synonymous with overweight tourists, and other cultures mock us for our apparent sloth.
But could there be more to this than just the fact that we eat too much?
Could it be possible that we have been fattened up by design?
Before we get to that, let’s take a look at some of the cold, hard numbers.
The following are some of the statistics from the Gallup survey that I mentioned above…
-The national rate of obesity has risen to an all-time high of 27.7 percent.
That is up from 27.1 percent in 2013, and it is much higher than the 25.5 percent number that we were sitting at in 2008.
-At 19.0 percent, Hawaii has the lowest rate of obesity in the entire country.
-At 35.2 percent, Mississippi has the highest rate of obesity in the entire country.
-The rest of the top 10 includes West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri.
And remember, those numbers just cover obesity.
You can definitely be overweight without meeting the official criteria for being “obese.”
According to CNN, 70 percent of all Americans are overweight at this point.
To say that we have a national crisis on our hands is a huge understatement..."

A global scam to enrich politically connected insiders------Are There Any Evils Global Warming Is Not Responsible For?

Are There Any Evils Global Warming Is Not Responsible For? - Investors.com:
Hysteria: Deadly flooding in Texas and Oklahoma is being blamed on global warming.
Last year, when Texas was in a drought, global warming was also held responsible.
Has anyone thought that maybe it's just the weather?
'Torrential downpours and events like this are consistent with the general theory of global warming," Dave Schwartz of the Weather Channel has told the International Business Times.
Writing in the Huffington Post, James Gerken asks if the disaster is "climate change in action," then answers his own question, declaring that, "at minimum, the recent downpours in Texas probably offer a glimpse of what certain parts of the U.S. can look forward to in the coming decades."
Meanwhile, Bill Nye, who doesn't strike us as a particularly good science guy, tweeted:
"Billion$$ in damage in Texas & Oklahoma. Still no weather-caster may utter the phrase Climate Change."
Not to be left out is Scientific American, which headlined a Web story thusly:
"Climate Change May Have Souped Up Record-Breaking Texas Deluge."
So, we have to wonder, what about last year, when Texas had to worry about a shortage of rain and parched earth?
Surely if heavy rains are deviations from the norm caused by global warming, then the dry conditions found in Texas must be natural and not the product of man-made climate change.
Well, not in the eyes of those who see man-made global warming as cause for every weather event that seems to be outside the ordinary.
Last year during that harsh drought, they were also happy to lecture the public about global warming's role.
"More Drought, Heat and Water Wars: What Climate Change Already Means for Texas" screamed a May 6, 2014, National Public Radio headline.
On that same day, the Dallas Morning News cited a federal report that said "worse" global warming effects were "ahead for Texas."
Ten days later, Think Progress was swearing "Climate Change Dries Out Texas."
A year earlier, USA Today reported that "Climate change's heat intensifiesdrought in the USA." And the 2011 Texas drought, reported NBC News, was "20 times more likely due to warming."
Climate Central cited a study that year that found that global warming was "amplifying Texas drought, wildfires."
So, yes, global warming causes drought — and it causes heavy rain.
In fact, it doesn't matter what the weather does; there is a faction out there that's always prepared to say that human-caused emissions of carbon dioxide are responsible.
The rational explanation for what appear to be weather extremes is actually found within the International Business Times story we cited above.
Far below the headline, Russell Persyn, a watershed engineering manager with the San Antonio River Authority, noted:
"Texas in general goes back and forth from being very drought-stricken to where we get these heavy rainfalls that occur within a few hours."
Neither drought nor hard rain is new to Texas and Oklahoma, whose histories are filled with excessive wet periods and extreme dry spells.
This cycle was spinning before we began emitting CO2 and it will still be spinning after our CO2 emissions have ceased.
These are facts, but some want the rest of us to forget them."

Teacher Expels Muslim Students for Cheating... But They Got Their Terrifying Revenge

Teacher Expels Muslim Students for Cheating... But They Got Their Terrifying Revenge:

"Islam, the so-called “religion of peace,” is most harsh toward unbelievers, but make no mistake — they’ll terrorize fellow Muslims without hesitation, especially if a woman is involved.

After an unnamed female teacher at a respectable preparatory school in Cairo failed a group of male students on their final exam because she caught them cheating, they decided to exact revenge after school in a horrific way."

Welfare Jihad in Europe

Welfare Jihad in Europe
  • Social welfare fraud of the kind perpetrated in Denmark is being repeated throughout Europe.
  • Because Anjem Choudary's welfare payments are not taxed, his income is equivalent to a £32,500 ($50,000) salary. By comparison, the average annual earnings of full-time workers in Britain was £26,936 ($41,000) in 2014.
  • A Swedish soldier deployed in Afghanistan said that he was likely to get less help when he came back to Sweden than returning jihadists were.
More than 30 Danish jihadists have collected unemployment benefits totaling 379,000 Danish krone (€51,000; $55,000) while fighting with the Islamic State in Syria, according to leaked intelligence documents.
The fraud, which was reported by Television 2 Danmark on May 18, comes less than six months after the Danish newspaper BT revealed that Denmark had paid unemployment benefits to 28 other jihadists while they were waging war in Syria.
The disclosures show that Islamists continue to exploit European social welfare systems to finance their activities both at home and abroad — costing European taxpayers potentially millions of euros each year.

...In April, it emerged that the parents of Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein — a Danish-Jordanian jihadist responsible for the terror attacks in Copenhagen in February 2015 in which two people died — have been welfare recipients in Denmark for more than 20 years. Omar's parents received a total of 3.8 million krone between 1994 and 2014, amounting to roughly 500,000 euros or $560,000.

Social welfare fraud of the kind perpetrated in Denmark is being repeated throughout Europe.

In Austria, police arrested 13 jihadists in November 2014 who were allegedly collecting welfare payments to finance their trips to Syria. Among those detained was Mirsad Omerovic, 32, an extremist Islamic preacher who police say raised several hundred thousand euros for the war in Syria. A father of six who lives exclusively off the Austrian welfare state, Omerovic has benefited from additional payments for paternity leave (Väterkarenz).

'Ferguson Effect': America's New Crime Wave Is All Part of the Plan

'Ferguson Effect': America's New Crime Wave Is All Part of the Plan - Breitbart:
The Wall Street Journal is calling the dramatic end of America’s two-decade-long drop in crime “The Ferguson Effect.”
Led behind the scenes by President Obama, America’s fraudulent civil rights leaders (Al Sharpton) and the mainstream media (especially CNN), worked together — starting with their lies in Ferguson — to launch hate campaigns against the police.
The result is an empowered criminal element and by extension a horrific increase in murders, shootings, and other violent crimes:
Gun violence is up more than 60% compared with this time last year, according to Baltimore police, with 32 shootings over Memorial Day weekend. May has been the most violent month the city has seen in 15 years.
In Milwaukee, homicides were up 180% … Through April, shootings in St. Louis were up 39%, robberies 43%, and homicides 25%. “Crime is the worst I’ve ever seen it,” said St. Louis Alderman Joe Vacarro at a May 7 City Hall hearing.
Murders in Atlanta were up 32%… Shootings in Chicago had increased 24% and homicides 17%. Shootings and other violent felonies in Los Angeles had spiked by 25%; in New York, murder was up nearly 13%, and gun violence 7%. …
Shooting incidents are up 500% in an East Harlem precinct compared with last year; in a South Central Los Angeles police division, shooting victims are up 100%.
And who are the victims here?
Not just the predominantly poor people who huddle in these cities, these are mostly black people.

For nearly two years in the mid-eighties I lived in the worst parts of Milwaukee’s inner-city.
Crime and the fear of crime is by far the worst part of being poor.
If you have a place to live, heat, and food, you can deal with not having much money.
Living in constant fear, though, of opening your front door, walking to your car, waiting for a bus, or taking the stairs, is a living nightmare.
It’s like living in a Vampire movie.
No, really.
Unless you’ve experienced it, I know of no other way to describe it.
Anything outside of a locked home after dark is filled with an indescribable dread of a very real danger.
And that’s what life is like for everyone.
Now imagine being mugged, having your car stolen and your apartment burglarized on top of all that. All of that happened to my wife and I during those two years.
We got the hell out. It wasn’t easy but we did.
A lot of people don’t.
Sadly, this stunning and unnecessary increase in crime is all part of the Left’s plan.
You paralyze the cops with persecution, justify riots and looting, and by extension empower the criminals.
The result is city-wide chaos, despair, and hopelessness.
The result is victims desperate for someone to blame and even more dependent on a central government.
The result is an empowered central government with even more control over the lives of those most in need of empowerment, not dependence.
Keep ‘em down.
Keep ‘em angry.
Pretend you are their savior not their oppressor, and keep ‘em voting for the very thing destroying them: big government and the Democrats who control it.
This sinister plot is no secret.
It’s openly called the Cloward-Piven Strategy.
The Ferguson Effect isn’t a bug, it’s a feature.
#BlackLivesMatter?
Don’t make me laugh.

Black Lives are nothing more than sacrifices to the cause of empowering the elite few who control the levers of Central Government."

Denver spends big money on controversial public art

Denver spends big money on controversial public art - Watchdog.org
Three, 20-foot lanterns stand in front of Denver County’s troubled jail in a bleak industrial area off Havana Street and Smith Road, but the artist and city say the roughly $200,000 taxpayers spent on the public art could help take a bite out of crime.
“The art suggests fresh ways of interpreting the experiences of people who live and work in this area,” “Havana Lanterns” creator David Griggs was quoted in a city news release.
“By revealing these opportunities, the art can suggest alternatives to recidivism, and it can reflect upon hope, renewal, and inspiration of new beginnings.”

SEE THE LIGHT: The city stands by the allegedly restorative and reform properties of this public art.
In 1988, then-Mayor Federico Peña signed an executive order requiring all building projects that cost $1 million or more to dedicate 1 percent to public art, and since then Denver taxpayers have paid nearly $32 million for sometimes controversial art projects, city records show.
In 1991, the City Council passed an ordinance mirroring Peña’s executive order for new building projects, which are often funded by bond issues and tax increase initiatives..."

Why are Michigan restaurants flying morel mushrooms in from Oregon?

Why are Michigan restaurants flying morel mushrooms in from Oregon? - Crain's Detroit Business:
"Last year, at the annual morel mushroom festival in Mesick, a little south of Traverse City, they had to fly in morels from Oregon so the festival could live up to its name.
Trattoria Stella, arguably the best restaurant in Traverse City, had morel-themed specials on the menu this May, as did every fine-dining restaurant in northern Michigan.
Most customers at Stella probably didn’t know the morels they were eating had been flown in from Oregon, too, despite the fact that the woods for miles around were filling with mushroom hunters gathering up huge quantities of those wonderfully tasty ’shrooms.
And that every motel in the area was filled, many of them with signs out front saying: “Welcome, mushroom hunters.”
The mushrooms had been flown in despite the fact that Stella’s owners pride themselves on being able to tell patrons which local farms,
or corners of which local farms, produce the various elements on the menu.
...Foraging is a way of life up north.
The same folks selling morels sell wild ramps in May, raspberries in July and blackberries in August.
Great for them, great for area restaurants, great for diners.
But not so great for the bureaucrats.
For years, the state has had a law on the books requiring mushroom sellers to be certified, but it was never enforced.
Until last year, that is, when the bureaucrats, for whom leaving well enough alone is anathema, interceded.
They began calling on restaurants and organizers of mushroom festivals and telling them they could buy only from certified mushroom sellers.
And the restaurants and festivals began telling their long-time providers that they needed to get certified, or they couldn’t do business.
Okay, said the foragers.
What do I do?
Where do I go?
How much does it cost?
Here’s where it gets Kafkaesque:
The state required certification, but there was no process in place.
There was literally no way to get certified.
It was an impossibility.
So, other states that had processes for certification began shipping their morels to Michigan.

Blame It on Global Cooling? Obama Has Lowest Average 1stQ GDP Growth of Any President on Record

Blame It on Global Cooling? Obama Has Lowest Average 1stQ GDP Growth of Any President on Record:
"Even if you leave out the first quarter of 2009—when the recession that started in December 2007 was still ongoing--President Barack Obama has presided over the lowest average first-quarter GDP growth of any president who has served since 1947, which is the earliest year for which the Bureau of Economic Analysis has calculated quarterly GDP growth.
In all first quarters since 1947, the real annual rate of growth of GDP has averaged 4.0 percent.
In the seven first quarters during Obama’s presidency, it has declined by an average of -0.43 percent. And if you leave out the first quarter of 2009 and look only at the first quarters of the six years since the recession ended, it has averaged only 0.4 percent."

Elderly face NHS discrimination under new UN death targets

Elderly face NHS discrimination under new UN death targets - Telegraph:
"The NHS could be led to discriminate against the over 70s to meet ‘highly unethical’ UN health targets which seek to reduce premature deaths in younger people, senior medics have warned.
Under the proposed Sustainable Development Goals, UN member states will be given targets to cut the number of deaths from diseases like cancer, stroke, diabetes and dementia by one third by 2030.
However because many are age-related illnesses people who succumb to those diseases from the age of 70 are not deemed to have died prematurely and so are not included in the target.
In an open letter published in The Lancet, an international group of ageing specialists say the new guideline sends out the message that health provision for younger groups must be prioritised at the expense of older people.
Prof Peter Lloyd-Sherlock, professor of social policy and international development at the University of East Anglia, and lead author of the letter, said:
“This premature mortality target is highly unethical, since it unjustifiably discriminates against older people.
“We already know that there is age discrimination in cancer care and surgery and these targets give that the stamp of approval.
“The targets are not quite set in stone yet, so we have a final opportunity to impress upon the UN the need to alter this explicitly ageist health target.
“If this doesn’t happen, people aged 70 and over will become second-class citizens as far as health policy is concerned.”"

And No One Knew ANYTHING???----Dennis Hastert and the chain of congressional corruption

Dennis Hastert and the chain of congressional corruption - CSMonitor.com
Dennis Hastert, a former speaker of the House, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly structuring bank withdrawals of large sums of cash to evade federal law.

Dennis Hastert has not been a member of Congress since 2007...
That said, his indictment has created a situation that appears very serious and perhaps dark.
Since 2010, the Illinois Republican and former speaker of the House has paid $1.7 million to an unnamed person to “conceal his [Mr. Hastert’s] prior misconduct,” according to the indictment...
Thus it’s possible Hastert may soon enter an unenviable fraternity: national-level lawmakers convicted of crimes.
The bad news is that this is not a tiny group.
The good news is that in the United States, such bad actors can be brought to account.
...At least 10 US lawmakers have been convicted of felonies since 2000, according to a quick and non-comprehensive review of federal records.
While most resigned following their convictions, one – ex-Rep. James Traficant (D) of Ohio – was expelled from the House by a floor vote.

MICHELLE O TO GO: Food trucks deliver school lunches to students during summer break

MICHELLE O TO GO: Food trucks deliver school lunches to students during summer break - EAGnews.org: "PAUL, Minn. – Government-sponsored food trucks will be stalking students this summer with the goal of giving out thousands of “healthy” free lunches officials don’t trust parents to provide.
Officials at St. Paul public schools recently announced they’re working with the local food bank Second Harvest to dispatch a mobile food truck to expand locations offering students free lunches during the summer.

...the truck will drive around to different locations between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to help feed the city’s needy youngsters.
The truck will track down students at “spots like suggested basketball courts or fields where kids like to play,” according to the news site.

The very expensive-looking specially rigged step van features a billboard with grinning teens alongside the message “Kids and teens: Get your free meals here.”
The district apparently didn’t offer the details on how the new program is financed, or how much the truck cost, and the news station didn’t bother to ask.
School officials said the truck will be manned by volunteers.
Koppen said the district serves 29,000 lunches a day during the school year, but only 6,000 a day during the summer, so officials reasoned a truck is necessary to make sure students aren’t starving...

When Will Climate Scientists Say They Were Wrong?

When Will Climate Scientists Say They Were Wrong? | Cato Institute
Day after day, year after year, the hole that climate scientists have buried themselves in gets deeper and deeper.
The longer that they wait to admit their overheated forecasts were wrong, the more they are going to harm all of science.
The story is told in a simple graph, the same one that University of Alabama’s John Christy presented to the House Committee on Natural Resources on May 15.
The picture shows the remarkable disconnect between predicted global warming and the real world.
The red line is the 5-year running average temperature change forecast, beginning in 1979, predicted by the UN’s latest family of climate models, many of which are the handiwork of our own federal science establishment.
The forecasts are for the average temperature change in the lower atmosphere, away from the confounding effects of cities, forestry, and agriculture.
The blue circles are the average lower-atmospheric temperature changes from four different analyses of global weather balloon data, and the green squares are the average of the two widely accepted analyses of satellite-sensed temperature.
Both of these are thought to be pretty solid because they come from calibrated instruments.
“The longer that they wait to admit their overheated forecasts were wrong, the more they are going to harm all of science.”

Should It Be Illegal for Supermarkets to Waste Food?

Should It Be Illegal for Supermarkets to Waste Food? - The Atlantic
In 2010, U.S. supermarkets and grocery stores threw out 43 billion pounds, or $46.7 billion worth, of food, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture(USDA).

But if Arash Derambarsh had his way, that number would be zero.
His goals are ambitious, but then again the municipal councilor from Courbevoie, France did manage to get a law passed in France last week that would accomplish just that.
The law bans supermarkets in France from discarding or destroying unsold food.

According to Salon’s Lindsay Abrams, the law mandates that all unsold but edible food should be donated to charities for immediate distribution to the poor.
Food that is unsafe to eat is to be donated to farms for agricultural purposes.
Supermarkets that exceed a certain square footage are required to sign contacts with charities by July 2016; penalties for failing to do so include fines of up to roughly $81,600 or two years in prison.
...Now Derambarsh is hoping to globalize his movement.

He said he plans to return to Change.org within the next week with a call for an international law that mirrors the new French legislation.
In coordination with the advocacy group ONE, he plans to present the issue to the European Union, United Nations, the G-20 forum of major economies, and the upcoming UN climate-change conference in Paris known as COP 21

"Activist Pamela Geller clashed with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Thursday morning, accusing him of “very shallow journalism” and pushing back against a comparison that he made between saying the N-word and drawing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

The heated segment started with Cuomo discussing the Garland shooting that unfolded earlier this month when “would-be jihadists” attacked the venue where Geller’s Muhammad cartoon contest was held, before asking why she’s now trying to publicly post the winning cartoon on Washington D.C. buses.

“The media and the political and academic elites are censoring this cartoon and we think the American people should see that you are self-enforcing the Shariah,” Geller responded."

Subsidized Broadband: FCC Chairman Plans to Expand ‘Obama Phone’ Program to Internet

Subsidized Broadband: FCC Chairman Plans to Expand ‘Obama Phone’ Program to Internet: "Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler announced on Thursday that he intends to expand Lifeline, popularly known as the “Obama Phone” program, to the Internet.
“I am circulating new proposals to “reboot” Lifeline for the Internet age,” Wheeler wrote in a blog post on the FCC’s Website.
He said the reboot would include “establishing minimum standards of service for voice and broadband,” in addition to subsidies for low-income consumers.
Lifeline is a government benefit program that provides a monthly subsidy of $9.95 on telephone service for those at or below 135 percent of the poverty line so they can connect to the nation's communications networks, find jobs, access health care services, connect with family and their children's schools, and call for help in an emergency."
